To
supplement and to strengthen extension efforts for creating wealth
for the society, Morarka Foundation has always laid especially emphasis
on R&D for technology. Way back in 1994 itself Morarka Foundation
had realized that many problems affecting the livelihoods in remote
rural areas have also been affected by the depleting natural resources
available and accessible to them. In our search to find solutions
for increasing the productivity of natural resources, we found that
biotechnology applications in recycling of natural resources can
play an important role.

To
begin with, we worked to recycle farm waste through many traditional
and modern methods. In 1995, we were informed about vermiculture
that

could
help recycle farm waste. For about five years, Morarka Foundation
focussed its efforts in the development and promotion of vermiculture
technology. By the year 2000 Morarka Foundation had become the single
largest producer of vermicast in the World. To improve the quality
of vermicast and to develop new applications a high-tech biotechnology
lab fully equipped with latest scientific tools and devices was
set up. Right from the beginning this lab has been focussed on developing
biotechnology applications for agriculture and environment management,
such as...
• Vermiculture-Technology Development and Promotion
• Enrichment of Vermicast and its Applications Development
• Probiotics for Fertility and Pest Management
• Isolation & Extraction of Primary and Secondary Plant Metabolites
• Household Scientific Solid Waste Management and Recycling
• Institutional Scientific Waste Management
• Urban Waste Water Management and Recycling
• Industrial Waste Water Recycling
• Rain Water Harvesting
• Sanitization and Safe Disposal of Wastes
• Plant Tissue Culture
• Spirulina Cultivation
• Food Grade Natural Preservatives and Bactericides
